Valentino held the runway show in the empty spaces of historic Milan’s Piccolo Teatro, which has been closed due to the complicated developments of the Covid-19 pandemic for the past 1 year. Valentino’s models stepped out with classic, modern, and high applicability outfits.

After a turbulent year with a complicated epidemic situation, most entertainment venues and art activities have closed. Theaters in Italy are no exception. Perhaps that is why Pierpaolo Piccioli came up with the idea of combining fashion with such a special catwalk. The designer said: “This is an act of love“. So he brought fashion lovers to one of the most famous theaters in Milan – the Piccolo Teatro Strehler.

Minimalism

The collection no longer has outfits layered with a colorful design which is the brand’s features of Valentino years ago. This Fall/Winter 2021 collection is geared more towards minimalism. The looks of the outfits are mostly basic, monochromatic in color shades, interspersed with several vibrant iridescent designs. However minimalist but not monotonous, the designs are still poetic, feminine and full of charm.

In this collection, Piccioli wants to bring contemporary breath imprinted with his signature. The main designs include ultra-short skirts or baby-doll dresses with youthful designs combined with cape robes to exalt long legs.

Stiletto

In addition to bringing miniskirts back into fashion, Piccioli is also betting on the return of enchanting Stiletto heels after flats and sneakers have dominated the majority of our wardrobe.

Valentino’s creative director said: “I wanted a collection that was as flying as Haute Couture but neat and without any superfluous details,” and they did. The sweaters, long coats are also added with cut-out lines in a unique fishnet pattern. The turtleneck is not tight but leans forward a bit with ruffles or bow ties.

The highlight of this collection is the company’s focus on collar details. Specifically, the collar part is designed with many “variations” such as large leaf collar, short collar, long collar, pointed leaf collar, etc. These designs help create unique and new features for Valentino’s outfit.

Haute Couture-inspired designs

Besides, the collection still has no shortage of Haute Couture-inspired designs with the fashion house’s identity with long dresses with lace mesh. The stunning rhinestone mesh dress or the vertical ribbed black dress creates the perfect touches for a romantic Gothic style. This design exalts a woman’s body curve, which is already charming, sophistication, and gentleness, now even more slender.

Men collection

With designs for men, Valentino’s trend is towards box-shaped jackets and wide-leg trousers, combined with inner shirts or mesh vests. This is a fairly new style and easily becomes a popular trend for men.
